New Bedford Coalition to Save our Schools
Two charter schools in New Bedford are seeking to grow by almost 1,300 seats. Currently the New Bedford Public Schools are already underfunded by $40.3 million annually, but the proposal could drain as much as $30 million more. These charter schools are not required to meet the needs of every student, and many are returned back to the public schools.
The New Bedford Coalition to Save Our Schools is urging concerned citizens to flood state reps and senators with calls opposing pro-charter school bill, HD4174 that turns state education law on its head to pay for Alma del Mar with public funds.
