Fund Our Future
Coordinating with partners Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance (MEJA) and others, JWJ is working to pass Fair Funding legislation to implement the recommendations of the Foundation Budget Review Commission to significantly increase state funding for public schools.
There is a lot going on in the State House these days! Thanks to the activism and advocacy of folks like you, lawmakers have filed some very exciting bills that, if they get passed, could hold Massachusetts accountable to defending workers on the job and investing in the communities we live in. Learn more about these bills and help get them passed by asking your representatives to co-sponsor.
The latest push in the years-long effort to reform the school funding formula will take on more shape this week, with advocates, educators and lawmakers gathering for a press conference in support of a bill that will likely be filed on Tuesday.
Powerful Assembly Propels ‘Fund Our Future’ Campaign Forward
We're bringing together the students, parents, educators, and the whole MEJA community for a MEJA Winter Assembly from 11am-6pm, location TBD, where we will be planning our path forward for the new year, talking about the Fund Our Future campaign to fund our public schools and colleges, and holding sessions on testing, privatization, student debt, the school-to-prison pipeline, parent and community organizing, student power, and much more.
We need fully funded schools where teachers have the freedom to teach and students have the freedom to learn. Join us at the MEJA Winter Assembly to fight for public education and the funding our schools and communities deserve.
