Coordinating with partners Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance (MEJA) and others, JWJ is working to pass Fair Funding legislation to implement the recommendations of the Foundation Budget Review Commission to significantly increase state funding for public schools.
The Joint Committee on Higher Education is hosting a hearing on funding bills, including our #FundOurFuture legislation, the Cherish Act. Join students, staff, faculty, and supporters to demand action on the funding we need and deserve.
On March 22, 2019 jwJ and allies were out in force at the Massachusetts State House fighting for Massachusetts Children. Educators, parents and students filled Gardner with overflow seating into the Great Hall where people watch a livestream.
There is a lot going on in the State House these days! Thanks to the activism and advocacy of folks like you, lawmakers have filed some very exciting bills that, if they get passed, could hold Massachusetts accountable to defending workers on the job and investing in the communities we live in. All students deserve a great public education. We’re proud of the public schools and colleges in our communities, but we could do even more for our students if the state provided us with adequate funding. #FundOurFuture legislation would increase funding for public education, from prekindergarten through college. Join a community conversation about what we can do together to make sure the Legislature approves more funding for public schools and colleges.
Hundreds of students, educators, and activists from our public colleges and universities will descend on Beacon Hill on March 21st to demand that we #FundOurFuture by passing the Cherish Act and pass the #DebtFreeFuture Act to guarantee access to public higher education for every student and family in Massachusetts.

We're bringing together the students, parents, educators, and the whole MEJA community for a MEJA Winter Assembly from 11am-6pm, location TBD, where we will be planning our path forward for the new year, talking about the Fund Our Future campaign to fund our public schools and colleges, and holding sessions on testing, privatization, student debt, the school-to-prison pipeline, parent and community organizing, student power, and much more.
We need fully funded schools where teachers have the freedom to teach and students have the freedom to learn. Join us at the MEJA Winter Assembly to fight for public education and the funding our schools and communities deserve.
