MassBudget releases new Chapter 70 funding report!
MassBudget released their new Chapter 70 funding report related to the costs of various reform legislation in the statehouse including the Promise Act and Governor Baker’s plan. The report shows significant variation in the cost of these plans connected to how they address the needs of low-income students. This meant that under their estimates, the two leading proposals have dramatic differences in how the districts who serve most of our disadvantaged kids and youth of color fare. This report also lined up well with this year’s Kids Count Data Book release which had updated child wellbeing indicators including education. MassBudget is glad to provide this resource, and to follow up as needed. They look forward to working with everyone to get this information out at a critical time in the debate.
