In order to save maternity services at
Morton, the Department of Public Health
will need to see and hear from YOU!
The Department of Public Health has scheduled an important public hearing specific to the
proposed closure of the maternity unit at Morton Hospital. The purpose of this public hearing
is to provide community members with an opportunity to voice their concerns over Steward’s
plans to eliminate Morton’s maternity services.
Please attend this important meeting, and express to DPH why these services must be maintained:
DATE: Friday, February 16, TIME: 4 p.m.
LOCATION: Holiday Inn Taunton-Foxboro Area, 700 Myles Standish Blvd. in Taunton
The Steward-Morton Hospital maternity unit provides an essential service for mothers and
newborns in our community that must be maintained. The loss of this service will cause
extreme hardship for families in our community, particularly those who lack the resources to
access care at facilities in other communities. Please help us protect the most vulnerable in our
community by ensuring Steward keeps its promise to retain this vitally important service
Please call Sherman Lohnes, assistant director of DPH’s
office of regulatory affairs, at 617-753-8160 because he
has a say in this decision.
