BPS students and parents have invited all of our Massachusetts State Representatives to join over 100 students and parents from St. Stephen's Youth Programs as we showcase our students' talents in the halls of the State House!
We have been organizing all year for increased funding for public education, particularly by working to pass An Act Modernizing the Foundation Budget for the 21st Century, which would update the state's education funding formula for the first time since 1993. The bill has made it through committee and the State Senate, but the House must vote on it before the end of June in order for it to pass this year. Our students are excited to share their talents and dreams for the future. Join them to support this incredible display of talent! And make it clear to legislators that in order to invest in our young people and in the future of our community, we need to pass the bill this session. The future of our students and of the Commonwealth is at stake.
Dress code: Students should dress up as their future career (astronaut, baseball player, lawyer, nurse, marine biologist, etc).
The event is family friendly, and there will be live music and face painting. It is accessible and open to the public. There will be Spanish translation.
If you can't come, please call your legislator and ask them to support the bill called "An Act Modernizing the Foundation Budget for the 21st Century" and vote on it before the end of June!
