And in Pennsylvania, 11 Jewish people were killed during Shabbat morning prayer services at the Tree of Life Synagogue, which is home to Congregation Dor Hadash and New Light Congregation.

Now is the time to grieve, to mourn, to heal. Now is the time to find strength in solidarity, between neighbors and across communities. Thursday’s rally will provide a space to take public action to say: Safety in Solidarity! Our struggles are connected, we need each other & we have each other's backs.

We are grateful to our Jewish tradition for offering us the wisdom of mourning together or sitting shiva for 7 days. This is traditionally a time when community comes together to celebrate life, honor death, and support each other through grief.

We are guided by and take strength and resilience in this moment from the improvised words of a 1939 Polish Yiddish resistance song - “Mir veln zey iberlebn מיר וועלן זיי יבערלעבן (We will outlive them) .”
