Sisters & Brothers,
The faculty at Tufts University need our support.
Part-time lecturers have been bargaining their second contract with the administration since last March. The University has shown next to no interest in continuing to improve pay for their faculty.
Instead, they have said that part-time lecturers at Tufts should be satisfied-that, from a market perspective, they are paid well. Tufts defends its low pay for faculty by claiming that every other university is doing it, too.
Tufts can and should do better. On October 11th, Part-time Faculty will walk out to demand a contract that more equitably reflects their contribution to the education of Tufts students. We need to support our Tufts colleagues and send a message to the University urging them to value and respect their part-time faculty.
Once you've sent your message, please mark your calendar for the 11th and join us on the picket line. We're strongest when we stand together.
