Health Care Justice Now! The Health Care Action Committee has been the center of many high profile mobilizations demanding health care for all. In 2005, we had over 50,000 people across the state participating in our Health Care Action Day and our June 19 march brought out a diverse crowd of 1,500 with substantial media coverage. The HCAC brings together a diverse group of advocates from all of the three main health care initiatives: single payer, constitutional amendment, and “play or pay”. Despite some differences in opinion, all three see and value our contribution to build a base for health care in the labor movement while also constructing a wider alliance on this critical issue. The Health Care Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
