Over one million are affected in Haiti by the recent hurricanes: Fay, Gustav, Hanna and Ike. The actual death toll rose to more than 800. Other devastating impacts of the hurricanes include more than 1/8 of the population to become homeless, the loss of thousands of livestock, and the destruction of infrastructure (roads, bridges, and schools) and agricultural plantations.

The New England Haiti Relief Effort thanks the Haitian Community and Friends of Haiti throughout the New England area for donating $9,000 and a truck load of clothes and other supplies.
