Support Pilgrim Plant Workers

Entergy, the parent company that owns Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant has locked out workers today- Tuesday, June 5th in retaliation for workers rejecting their last proposed contract. Workers are members of UWUA Local 369 and have been attempting to bargain with the company for months. Entergy, a highly profitable company from Arkansas gave its CEO Wayne Leonard $18 million in pay last year but wants workers to give major concessions on health care and job security. In addition, this company was successfully sued by the state of Mississippi for bilking ratepayers.
Entergy has said that they would bring in scab (replacement) workers to run the aging plant from a temp agency called MADI Corp. This plant is the same type of plant as the Fukishima plant in Japan. The Pilgrim Plant had an “unplanned shut down” in late May while workers who are knowledgeable about the plant where working there. This was the 3rd issue in 7 months at that plant.
What will happen with scabs running the place?Does this sound safe to you? No!

Lastly- in the immortal words of Lisa Simpson, “He has the plant, but we have the power.”
