Verizon workers need the support of allies to fight back attack on workers’ rights! What’s at stake?

Good Jobs: The traditional telecommunications industry has historically been a source of good jobs for workers without a college education, and particularly for women and workers of color. These high job standards are largely the result of collective bargaining which lifted the industry. Currently, the contract for unionized Verizon workers provides:

• Wages well above the national average.
• Retirement Security: Verizon workers are some of the few workers left in this country with a defined benefit pension.
• Health Care: Current workers do not have to pay for their health care.
• Retired workers also receive health benefits.
