Campaign for Change at Walmart

Making Change at Walmart graphic

The Massachusetts Stands Up to Walmart Coalition consists of activist, community, labor, and religious groups in Massachusetts whose members are dedicated to promoting a set of standards for how Walmart treats workers and their community. The coalition firmly believes Massachusetts workers should not have to settle for substandard employment and allow any company to destroy their community for the sake of a job.

What Are We Doing?

The Massachusetts Stands Up to Walmart Coalition has assembled a list of demands for businesses, such as Walmart, who are attempting to move into the Boston area. The coalition has been evolving these demands to fit the will of the community.  Through this process we hope to negotiate with Walmart over these demands and change the way Walmart treats workers and our community.

Where Are We Organizing?

We have committees in Boston and Somerville.  We are also working with groups in Watertown and Saugus.

How Can I Get Involved?
  • ORGANIZATIONS: Endorse our campaign, attend coalition meetings, and turn out for actions.
  • INDIVIDUALS: Volunteer to help with phone banks, canvass neighborhoods, or hold an informational house party.
