Campaign for Change at Wal-Mart
The We Want Good Jobs Coalition consists of activist, community, labor, and religious groups in Massachusetts whose members are dedicated to promoting a set of standards for how Wal-Mart treats workers and their community. The coalition firmly believes Massachusetts workers should not have to settle for just any job and allow any company to destroy their community for the sake of a job.
What Are We Doing?
The We Want Good Jobs Coalition has begun to assemble a list of demands for businesses, such as Wal-Mart who are attempting to move into the Boston area. The Coalition has been evolving these demands to fit the will of the community. Through this process we hope to negotiate with Wal-Mart over these demands and change the way Wal-Mart treats workers and our community.
Where Are We Organizing?
We have committee in Boston and Somerville. We are also working with groups in Watertown and Saugus.
