ATTORNEY GENERAL July 03, 2008 - For immediate release: New Bedford Company Cited for Misclassifying Workers at Fall River Construction Site FALL RIVER – Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Office has issued a citation against Victor M. Fernandes, of Acushnet and his company, Fernandes Masonry, Inc., of New Bedford, for an intentional violation the Massachusetts Prevailing Wage Laws. LOCAL 12 APPRENTICE GREGG PETERSEN
LOCAL 12 APPRENTICE GREGG PETERSEN, employed with D.R. Howard, won the Plumbing Competition in the United Association Apprentice Competition held in Rhode Island on June 12-14, 2008. Brother Petersen competed among plumbing apprentices from United Association Local Unions in District 1 which is made up of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. Brother Petersen will represent District 1 at the National United Association Apprentice Competition August 11 through August 15, 2008. It will be held at the U.A. Instructor Training Seminar in Michigan. Congratulations to Brother Petersen. The officers and members of Local 12 wish him all the best in the United Association National Competition for plumbing apprentices.

LOCAL 12 21ST ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENTLOCAL 12 21st ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT will be held Monday, August 18, 2008 at Waverly Oaks in Plymouth, MA with an 8 AM shotgun start. Apprentice Competition
Recently the Annual Local 12 Apprentice Competition was held at the union hall to choose who will represent the Local at the Regional and National competitions.
These young men and women showed their skills in all aspects of the plumbing trade over a two day period.
The competition was tough, but Gregg Petersen emerged as the winner to represent Local 12.
